An Illinois man died when two vehicles crashed on Interstate 40, 12 miles west of Gallup. The freeway was coated with slush and ice from an overnight light snow event.

An Illinois man died when two vehicles crashed on Interstate 40, 12 miles west of Gallup. The freeway was coated with slush and ice from an overnight light snow event. A full sized van lost control on eastbound I-40 at mile marker 9, crossed the median and crashed into a SUV that was heading west at 800 am MDT. The van completely split the SUV in half. The driver of the SUV, 46 year old James Gasser, died instantly.
