Light precipitation developed ahead of an approaching warm front during Sunday evening, January 4th. With surface temperatures initially remaining below freezing, the precipitation began as a mix of sleet and freezing rain across the northern Berkshires. The precipitation then changed to plain rain and drizzle by early Monday morning on January 5th.
Ice accretion from freezing rain was generally one tenth of an inch or less. However, this light icing led to locally hazardous travel conditions late Sunday evening into early Monday morning.
