A warm front moved north through areas of southeast Georgia during the afternoon hours on October 12, 2009, which allowed warm and moist air to encompass the area. Several waves of low pressure progressed along the southern periphery of the front during the evening within the warm and moist air. As a 500mb shortwave and developing low level jet swept through the area, a few strong thunderstorms were able to develop along areas of convergent boundaries near nightfall.
