A combination of swells from an intense low pressure system east New Zealand and gusty trades had impacted south facing shores of the islands. Surf heights of 10 to 15 ft and higher sets were in effect from the 24th and later downgraded on the 27th of the month.
Deaths and injuries are direct and indirect together, as the offices filed them. Damage is property and crops in the dollars of the year, not adjusted for inflation, and only where an office estimated it.

A combination of swells from an intense low pressure system east New Zealand and gusty trades had impacted south facing shores of the islands. Surf heights of 10 to 15 ft and higher sets were in effect from the 24th and later downgraded on the 27th of the month. WSO Pago Pago recorded trades of 30 mph with gusts up to 47 mph, which had facilitated the growth of surfs as they were near shores. The Department of Public Safety had reported numerous debris been washed over low lying areas of the eastern district of the island of Tutuila. Also, coastal erosions had a direct effect on various landslides that have been reported by village mayors. The Department of Public Works reported a major reconstruction or clean up of roads in the aftermath of the episode. The Department of Port and Administration had closed sea transportation among the islands of Tutuila, Aunuu and Manua on the 24th to 27th. No other damages had been reported.

Surf heights of 10 to 15 ft had impacted south facing shores of Tutuila. Low lying areas of the Eastern District had debris been washed over roads and coastal erosions which created some landslides along near shore mountain areas. The Shear Line that remained nearly stationary over the islands had facilitated with these landslides as ground became saturated.
WSO Pago recorded trades of 30 to 35 kt from the 24th to the 27th. The Department of Public Works reported a few uprooted trees around various areas. No other damages were reported.
