PMThe Ft Hood radar (KGRK), 67 km away, was scanning. The volume nearest the first event began at 18:01 UTC.
14 flash flood, 1 lightning. Local standard time, as filed.
Thunderstorms dropped 2 to 3 inch amounts over southern Bastrop County, with up to 5 inches near Rosanky. Flash flooding closed sections of US290 and SH21.
A father and two sons took shelter under a medium-sized cedar tree at Lost Maples State Natural Area in western Bandera County as a storm approached. Lightning hit the tree, injuring all three, with the father the most serious. One son was still able to go for help. A park ranger and a trained medical responder who was visiting the park came quickly but could not revive the father. Both of his sons were taken to a hospital.
Thunderstorms produced from 3 to 5 inches of rain around Fredericksburg, causing flash flooding that closed FM965 and FM2323.
Rainfall from Brackettville northeastward averaged from 2 to 4 inches. The resulting flash flooding closed FM334 and FM674.
Thunderstorms in southern Edwards County produced a general 3 to 4 inch rainfall in a little over 2 hours. The resulting flash flooding closed FM674 between its intersection with US377 and the Nueces River.
Thunderstorms produced between 2 and 3 inches of rain over northern Uvalde County, with up to 5 inches in the extreme northwestern part of the county. Flash flooding closed US55 and FM1050.
General 2 to 3 inch rain amounts fell in thunderstorms over Lavaca and DeWitt Counties, with up to 5 inches east of Moulton. FM532 and SH95 were closed near Moulton.
General 2 to 3 inch rain amounts fell in thunderstorms over Lavaca and DeWitt Counties,. Several county roads in the southeast corner of DeWitt County were closed due to flash flooding.
A second round of storms produced an additional 3 inches of rain just east of Pearsall, redeveloping the flash flooding from earlier that morning. FM2779 and FM140 were reported to be under water.
Thunderstorms over northern Maverick County produced general 3 to 4 inch totals. The resulting flash flooding closed SH131.
Scattered showers and thunderstorms over Kendall, Comal and Bexar Counties produced general 2-3 inch rains, with up to 5 inches near Hill Country Village. West Avenue and Blanco Road were closed to due flash flooding.
Scattered showers and thunderstorms over Kendall, Comal and Bexar Counties produced general 2-3 inch rains, with up to 5 inches in the Garden Ridge-Schertz-Cibolo area. Flash flooding closed numerous roads, including FM3009, FM2252, and Evans Road.
Storms produced 2-4 inch totals in a northwest to southeast oriented line across central Dimmit County. Closed were US 83 and FM2644, and FM191.
Between 2 and 3 inches of rain fell in western Gonzales County, closing FM1117 due to flash flooding.
Scattered showers and thunderstorms over Kendall, Comal and Bexar Counties produced general 2-3 inch rains, with up to 4 inches near Sisterdale. FM473 was shut down between Sisterdale and Kendalia due to high water.
As the offices recorded each death: direct deaths were caused by the weather itself, indirect ones by something it set in motion.
