.DISCUSSION...
MODELS SUGGEST DRIER EARLY IN THE WEEK, THEN A RETURN TO A WETTER
PATTERN LATER THIS WEEK INTO NEXT WEEKEND, ALTHOUGH A LITTLE LESS
CONSENSUS TODAY MAKES FOR SOME UNCERTAINTY IN THE LATER PERIODS
OF THE FORECAST. A MESOSCALE CONVECTIVE VORTEX CONTINUES TO MOVE
OFF TO THE WEST ACROSS NORTHERN MEXICO AS A MOISTURE AXIS ALONG A
REMNANT LOWER LEVEL BOUNDARY SHIFTS WEST ACROSS EASTERN TEXAS.
THIS MOISTURE AXIS AND THE SEABREEZE WILL BE THE FOCUS FOR POPS
EARLY IN THE WEEK. SUFFICIENT MOISTURE CONVERGENCE ALONG WITH SOME
UPPER JET DIFFLUENCE SHOULD BE ENOUGH TO GENERATE ISOLATED TO
WIDELY SCATTERED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ESPECIALLY DURING THE
DAYTIME HOURS DUE TO SOLAR HEATING MONDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY.
MODELS SHOW LOWERING PWS, HOWEVER STILL SLIGHTLY ABOVE AVERAGE, SO
CAN NOT RULE OUT SOME LOCALLY HEAVY DOWNPOURS, ALTHOUGH NOT ENOUGH
TO SIGNIFICANTLY ADD TO STREAM FLOWS. LATER IN THE WEEK INTO NEXT
WEEKEND, MOST MODELS REDEVELOP AN UPPER LOW/TROUGH WITH INCREASING
TROPICAL MOISTURE ON PWS RISING TO NEAR TWO INCHES, EXCEPT FOR THE
GFS WHICH HAS JUST A SHEAR AXIS AND PWS 1.5 TO 1.8 INCHES. UNTIL
OTHER MODELS MOVE TOWARD THE GFS SOLUTION, EXPECT ANOTHER UPPER
LOW/TROUGH TO DEVELOP, SO HAVE INCREASED POPS AT TIMES OVER THE
MEX NUMBERS SLIGHTLY THURSDAY THROUGH NEXT SUNDAY. THIS MAY LEAD
TO ANOTHER PERIOD OF HEAVY RAINS AND FLOODING. SOIL MOISTURE WILL
KEEP DAYTIME TEMPERATURES BELOW AVERAGE THE NEXT SEVERAL DAYS.
HAVE GENERALLY FAVORED MEX TEMPERATURES. IN THE MEANTIME, HAVE
ADDED PATCHY FOG FOR LATE TONIGHT INTO MONDAY MORNING SIMILAR TO
THIS MORNING.
