A vigorous upper low moving across the Southern Plains States allowed a surface low pressure system north of the Texas panhandle to deepen. This resulted in tightening of the pressure gradient which caused very strong west to northwesterly downsloping winds.

High winds blew the roof off a trailer into a car wash and blew down numerous storage buildings in Stinnett. A two story garage was blown down with debris strewn across Farm to Market Road 687 about two miles southwest of Stinnett.

Fritch Fire Department reported that the high winds in Fritch caused roof damage and porch damage to a home...the greenhouse at Fritch Elementary School was destroyed...a metal roof at a home at Lake Meredith Harbor was damaged...two homes with metal roofs damaged...the top room of a two-story barn was blown away...the front awning and building sign of a convenient store was damaged...a stop sign struck a vehicle...a trailer and barn was damaged in Sanford Estates...a carport from a hardware store in Fritch went airborne and crossed State Highway 136 missing two vehicles and traveled south for about a block...an empty apartment building had its roof peeled off...the city annex building had its roof materials peeled back...and a trailer had its skirting and shingles peeled off. No injuries were reported.
