A cold front moved slowly south across eastern North Carolina during the late morning and afternoon hours on March 28th. Ahead of the front temperatures warmed into the 80s leading to an unstable atmosphere. Scattered thunderstorsm developed over mainly the northern counties during the afternoon and few produce large hail up to 2 inches in diameter. The large hail fell mainly over the cities of Washington and Greenville and resulted in dents on cars and a few reports of cracked windshields.
