The Jack wildfire occurred in Yosemite National Park. The ignition date was October 29, 2007, at about 1500 PDT. The cause of the wildfire was lightning. The location was 05 miles north of Wawona. The size was 1108 acres and it was estimated to be contained on December 15, 2007. There were no fatalities or injuries and cost estimates are unavailable at this time.

.DISCUSSION...THE LAST OF THE STRATUS HAS FINALLY DISSIPATED OVER
THE SAN JOAQUIN VALLEY AND THIS WILL SET THE STAGE FOR SOME
PATCHY FOG FORMATION AFTER MIDNIGHT. OVER THE REMAINDER OF THE
AREA SKIES WILL BE CLEAR. FOR THE NEXT SEVERAL DAYS THE PATTERN
WILL REMAIN DRY. A VERY WEAK SHORT WAVE IS PROGGED BY SHORT RANGE
MODELS TO MOVE ACROSS CENTRAL CALIFORNIA ON FRIDAY WITH STRONG
RIDGING TO BUILD OFF THE NORTHERN CALIFORNIA COAST ON SATURDAY.
UNLIKE THE PREVIOUS HIGH PRESSURE SYSTEM THAT BROUGHT AND WINDY
WEATHER TO THE REGION, FORECAST MODELS KEEP THE CENTER OF THE
ANTICYCLONE OFFSHORE WITH THE AREA REMAINING INFLUENCED BY THE
COOL SIDE OF THE HIGH AS WINDS ALOFT REMAIN FROM THE NORTHWEST.
