...STRONG THUNDERSTORMS AFFECTING MECKLENBURG COUNTY...

AT 257 PM EDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED TWO
STRONG THUNDERSTORM OVER THE CHARLOTTE METRO AREA...ONE JUST SOUTH
OF THE CITY CENTER...ANOTHER NEAR UNC CHARLOTTE. THE STORMS WERE
MOVING EAST AT AROUND 10 MPH. THESE STORMS WILL AFFECT MUCH OF THE
EASTERN PART OF THE CHARLOTTE METRO AREA THROUGH 3:45 PM.

THE MAIN THREAT WITH THESE STORMS WILL BE FREQUENT CLOUD TO GROUND
LIGHTNING AND HEAVY RAINFALL RATES OF AROUND AN INCH PER HOUR.

BRIEF PERIODS OF PEA SIZE HAIL...AND WIND GUSTS OF 40 TO 50 MPH ARE
ALSO EXPECTED WITH THIS STORM.
