Heavy rains over the Richardson Highway on the night of the 22nd and the 23rd created flood conditions on various rivers and streams.The heavy rains resulted from a number of thunderstorms forming over time and moving south over the same region of this zone. Rainfall amounts ranged from 2.73 inches at Delta Junction to around 5.0 inches at Trimms Camp (Alaska Department of Transportation Maintenance Station) Zone 222 - Water form the Tanana River flowed into Piledriver Slough in Salcha but the slough did not flood. Zone 223 and 224 - Flooding of the Salcha River occurred with the gage at the Richardson Highway bridge reaching 1.01 ft above the flood stage of 14.0 feet. Impacts on cabins along the Salcha River are unknown. Zone 226 - Ruby Creek flooded and washed out the Richardson Highway at mile 234.7. The road was closed to traffic for approximately 24 hours. Monetary amount of damage unknown.

TROUGH ALOFT FROM TOK TO OLD CROW WILL DRIFT SLOWLY EAST TO THE
ALCAN BORDER BY FRI NIGHT. A BAND OF PERSISTENT HEAVY SHOWERS
ALONG THIS TROUGH WILL MOVES SLOWLY EAST WITH THE TROUGH. THIS HAS
CAUSED HEAVY RAIN ALONG THE RICHARDSON HWY AND ALASKA RANGE WITH
AMOUNT OF 1-2 INCHES SO FAR AND ANOTHER 1 INCH EXPECTED. EXPECT
FLOODING OF SMALL STREAMS ALONG THE RICHARDSON SOUTH OF DELTA AND
ALONG THE ALASKA HWY FROM DELTA TO DOT LAKE. LARGER RIVERS ALONG
THE RICHARDSON COULD SEE FLOODING AS WELL.

OTHERWISE THERE ARE ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS IN THE EASTERN INTERIOR
TONIGHT THROUGH FRI WITH THE AREAS DIMINISHING FROM THE WEST AS A
RIDGE ALOFT BUILDS IN FROM THE WEST.

A WEATHER FRONT IN NORTHWEST ALASKA WILL MOVE TO BARTER ISLAND TO
NOME FRI AFTERNOON AND TO THE SOUTHEAST INTERIOR SAT. THERE IS
WIDESPREAD RAIN AND FOG WITH THIS NOW THAT WILL DIMINISH TO
SCATTERED SHOWERS AS IT MOVES OVER THE INTERIOR.

SOUTHWEST FLOW AND WARM ADVECTION OVER THE BERING AND CHUKCHI SEAS
WILL CAUSE AREAS OF DENSE FOG ALONG THOSE SAME AREAS THROUGH SAT.
