It was a localized event, however, as winds at Cape Arago were well below warning criteria. Winds met warning criteria continuously at Cape Blanco from 02/2100 until 03/0600 PST. The first and last verifying observations as well as the highest sustained wind speed are listed above. The last verifying gust was also the highest one.

AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MEDFORD OR 300 PM PST SAT APR 2 2005 A COLD FRONT WILL REACH THE COAST THIS EVENING AND SWEEP ACROSS THE FORECAST AREA TONIGHT AND SUNDAY. SOUTH WINDS WILL INCREASE AHEAD OF THE FRONT...WITH PEAK WIND GUSTS AT THE HEADLANDS EXPECTED TO BE IN THE 50 TO 55 MPH RANGE. THIS IS BELOW WARNING CRITERIA SO WERE CANCELLING THE HIGH WIND WATCH. ALSO...GALES ARE NO LONGER FORECAST FOR THE MARINE ZONES. COASTAL MOUNTAINS OF CURRY COUNTY AND HIGHER ELEVATIONS IN SISKIYOU COUNTY WILL RECEIVE THE MOST PRECIPITATION WITH UNDER MOIST SOUTHWEST FLOW. SNOW LEVELS WILL BE BELOW PASS LEVELS BY LATE TONIGHT AND REMAIN AT OR BELOW PASSES ON SUNDAY. DO NOT EXPECT TO ISSUE A SNOW ADVISORY FOR THE CASCADES AND SISKIYOUS BUT LOCALIZED SNOW SHOWERS COULD REACH ADVISORY CRITERIA IN A FEW FAVORED UPSLOPE LOCATIONS. MODEL GUIDANCE INDICATES THE NEXT SYSTEM WILL NOT REACH US UNTIL WEDNESDAY NIGHT AS THE RIDGE AMPLIFIES TO OUR EAST. THE UPPER TROUGH DEEPENS OUTSIDE OF 140W WITH BACKING FLOW ACROSS OUR AREA.
