MOBILE FORECAST AREA...

.SHORT TERM (TODAY AND TONIGHT)...THE CENTER OF DANGEROUS HURRICANE
KATRINA WILL CONTINUE TRACKING NORTH ACROSS EXTREME SOUTHEAST
LOUISIANA THIS MORNING...AND INTO SOUTHEAST MISSISSIPPI BY
AFTERNOON.  STEPPED RADIOMETER DATA FROM THE NOAA AIRCRAFT HAVE
INDICATED 80-90 KT WINDS MOVING INTO THE EXTREME SOUTHWEST AREAS OF
OUR FORECAST AREA ATTM...AND THE HURRICANE FORCE WIND FIELDS HAVE
BEEN EXPANDED SLIGHTLY FURTHER TO THE EAST ON THE MORNING FORECAST
PACKAGE.  WE THEREFORE HAVE EXPANDED THE INLAND HURRICANE WARNING
ONE COUNTY EAST TO INCLUDE CLARKE COUNTY FOR LATER TODAY INTO
TONIGHT.  POTENTIAL FOR FREQUENT WIND GUSTS 110 MPH OVER INTERIOR
SOUTHEAST MISSISSIPPI BY LATE MORNING...PARTICULARLY STONE AND
GEORGE COUNTIES. THIS WILL LIKELY PRODUCE EXTENSIVE DAMAGE OVER OUR
WESTERN FORECAST ZONES...PARTICULARLY INTERIOR SOUTHEAST MISSISSIPPI
TODAY.  WILL ALSO CONTINUE INLAND TROPICAL STORM WARNING FOR THE
INTERIOR EASTERN ZONES...WITH TROPICAL STORM WARNING AND HURRICANE
WATCH CONTINUING OVER THE WESTERN FLORIDA PANHANDLE AND COASTAL
WATERS.  NHC FORECAST TRACK CONTINUES TO LOOK RIGHT ON THE MONEY.

WILL CONTINUE THE FLASH FLOOD WATCH INTO TONIGHT.  SHOULD SEE A BIT
OF A DRYSLOT WORK IN UNDERNEATH THE SOUTHWEST SIDE OF THE
CIRCULATION TONIGHT OVER THE SOUTHWEST ZONES...BUT WILL LEAVE THE
NORTHERN AND EASTERN ZONES IN THE NUMEROUS TO CATEGORICAL POP RANGE
AS SOME NUMERICAL MODEL GUIDANCE (PARTICULARLY THE NAM) SHOWS A BAND

Coordinates: 31.641, -88.696 (the zone’s center; the record gives no point)

High winds from the eyewall of Hurricane Katrina blew down numerous trees in Wayne county as the eye of Katrina moved north. Wind gust of 60-80 mph were estimated across the county. Several of the trees fell on structures and damaged them. The dollar estimates from the damage for this will be under the main Katrina summary in this publication.
