A HIGH PRESSURE RIDGE TO OUR NORTH WILL MAINTAIN LIGHT TO MODERATE
TRADE WINDS THIS WEEK. THE WINDS SHOULD PICK UP NEXT WEEKEND. ISLAND
SKIES WILL BE CLEAR TO PARTLY CLOUDY...WITH SHOWERS FAVORING
WINDWARD AND MAUKA SECTIONS.

.DISCUSSION...
THE LONGWAVE PATTERN ACROSS THE NORTH PACIFIC IS RATHER STAGNANT...
WITH LOW PRESSURE NEARLY STATIONARY NEAR 50N 170W OR SOUTH OF THE
ALASKA PENINSULA STRADDLED TO THE EAST AND WEST BY HIGH PRESSURE
RIDGES. THE LOW...BOTH AT THE SURFACE AND ALOFT...WILL KEEP THAT
PORTION OF THE SUBTROPICAL RIDGE TO OUR NORTH WEAK AND FARTHER SOUTH
THAN NORMAL. AS A RESULT...THE TRADE WINDS SOUTH OF THE RIDGE WILL
BE LIGHTER THAN NORMAL. THE LOW WILL MOVE TO THE NORTH...ALLOWING
THE RIDGE AND SUBSEQUENTLY OUR TRADE WINDS TO STRENGTHEN NEXT
WEEKEND.

AN UPPER LEVEL TROUGH OVER THE STATE MAY ENHANCE ANY SHOWERS RIDING
IN ON THE TRADES THROUGH THURSDAY. THE TROUGH WILL MOVE EAST FRIDAY
TO BE REPLACED BY HIGH PRESSURE TO OUR NORTH. WITH HIGH PRESSURE AT
THE SURFACE AND ALOFT TO OUR NORTH...STRONGER SUBSIDENCE SHOULD PUT
US IN DRYER TRADES THIS WEEKEND INTO NEXT WEEK.
