.SYNOPSIS...LOW PRESSURE ALOFT WILL PERSIST OVER THE PACIFIC
NORTHWEST THROUGH SUNDAY. THIS WILL BRING A RISK OF AFTERNOON AND
EVENING SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS THROUGH SUNDAY...MAINLY OVER THE
MOUNTAINS. A GRADUAL COOLING TREND WILL TAKE PLACE OVER THE WEEKEND
AS AN ONSHORE PRESSURE GRADIENT DEVELOPS.

.DISCUSSION...UPPER TROUGH IS SETTLING OVER THE AREA AS ANTICIPATED.
SATTIM AND RADAR SHOW SEVERAL THUNDERSTORMS OVER THE CASCADES AND
OLYMPICS WITH FAIRLY PRONOUNCED NELY FLOW TO THE NORTH OF SEATTLE
AND NWLY FLOW TO OUR SOUTH. HAVE RECEIVED SEVERAL SPOTTER REPORTS
WITH THUNDER NORTH INTERIOR AND ONE SPOTTER A FEW MILES EAST OF
BELLINGHAM WITH 1/2 INCH HAIL. WILL GO WITH SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS
OVER THE MOUNTAINS FOR THIS EVENING.
BIGGER QUESTION IS IF THE STORMS WILL ADVECT OVER THE LOWLANDS. SO
FAR THE CELLS HAVE BEEN COLLAPSING RATHER QUICKLY. LOWLAND TEMPS ARE
SEVERAL DEGREES WARMER THAN YESTERDAY SAME TIME BUT DEW POINTS ARE
BETWEEN 5 AND 10F COOLER. SO LESS CONVECTIVE POTENTIAL IN BOUNDARY
LAYER...YET NOT EVEN CERTAIN LAST NIGHTS STORMS WERE ROOTED IN
LOWLAND AIR MASS. SO WITH FAIRLY STRONG MID-LEVEL FLOW IT SEEMS
REASONABLE ANY EVENING STORMS OVER MOUNTAINS COULD MOVE OFF THE
TERRAIN. THUS WILL KEEP ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS OVER LOWLANDS EXCEPT
NORTHWEST COAST AND OFFSHORE. OF COURSE WITH FORECAST NEARLY
COMPLETE...LATEST RADAR SHOWS MOST CELLS WEAKENING SO MAY END UP
WITH PARTLY CLOUDY ACROSS CWA.
HAVE EDGED FORECAST MAXS UP NEXT TWO DAYS PER MOS GUIDANCE AND
SOMEWHAT WEAKER ONSHORE GRADIENTS IN PROGS. STILL EXPECT ST/SC TO
WORK ITS WAY NORTH ALONG THE COAST NEXT TWO DAYS WITH SOME INLAND
PENETRATION OVERNIGHT...MAINLY SUNDAY NIGHT. WILL KEEP DIURNAL
CLOUDS AND NEAR NORMAL TEMPS GOING THROUGH MIDWEEK.
STARTING THURSDAY...MODELS INDICATE A SOUTHERN-BRANCH CLOSED
CIRCULATION OFFSHORE WITH INCREASING SOUTHERLY FLOW ACROSS CWA. THIS
