SET UP ALONG THE INTERSTATE 85 CORRIDOR IN THE WESTERN CAROLINAS
TODAY AND SHOULD STEADILY SLIP NORTHWARD TOWARD INTERSTATE 40
THROUGH THE AFTERNOON. RESULTANT HIGH DBZ RETURNS ON RADAR ARE
AFFECTING MAINLY LOCATIONS FROM SPARTANBURG TO CLT WITH HEAVIER
SNOW RATES TO REACH THE NW PIEDMONT LATER. WEAKER ECHOES ARE ALSO
FILLING BACK IN TO THE SW ASSOCIATED WITH ISENTROPIC LIFT NORTH OF
THE 850 MB CIRCULATION. CLEARLY...THE BEST FOCUS OF STRONGEST OMEGA
IN THE COLD AIR WILL BE OVER THE NC PIEDMONT THROUGH THE LATE DAY...
AND SNOW TOTALS WILL BE PUSHED UP ACCORDINGLY ALONG THE INTERSTATE
77 CORRIDOR AS DEFORMATION ZONE FORCING STALLS AND PIVOTS THROUGH
TONIGHT.
LOCATIONS FARTHER TO THE SW ARE TRICKIER WITH GENERALLY LIGHT
AMOUNTS OBSERVED THUS FAR. ISENTROPIC LIFT COMBINED WITH THE PASSING
OF THE UPPER LOW CENTER COULD STILL YIELD QUICK BURSTS OF A FEW
INCHES...SO WARNING WILL BE MAINTAINED IN ALL CURRENTLY WARNED
AREAS. SNOWFALL TOTALS WILL BE TRIMMED A BIT IN THE SW MTNS HOWEVER.
TEMPERATURES ARE FAIRLY LOCKED IN AT THIS POINT WITH MID TO UPPER
20S IN THE MTNS AND AROUND 30 IN MOST PIEDMONT LOCATIONS. BREEZY TO
WINDY CONDITIONS ARE STILL LIKELY...THOUGH SPEEDS WILL BE LESS THAN
