NORTHEAST OREGON/SOUTHEAST WASHINGTON FORECAST DISCUSSION NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PENDLETON OR 900 AM PST THU FEB 27 2003 THE PACIFIC NW REMAINS ON THE EAST SIDE OF AN UPPER LEVEL RIDGE WITH A COLD NORTHERLY FLOW ACROSS THE FORECAST AREA. OVERNIGHT TEMPERATURES WERE NOT QUITE AS COLD AS IT WAS EARLIER THIS WEEK AS CLOUD COVER BLANKETED THE REGION. A WEAK SHORTWAVE TROUGH IS OVER SOUTHEAST WASHINGTON AND EASTERN OREGON. LIGHT SNOW HAS BEEN OBSERVED OVER CENTRAL OREGON AND THE BLUE MOUNTAINS WITH ACCUMULATIONS RANGING FROM A TRACE TO 0.5 INCH. THIS SYSTEM WILL TRACK INTO SE OREGON THIS EVENING AND INTO NEVADA TONIGHT. ALTHOUGH THE WATER EQUIVALENT OF SNOW WILL BE VERY LIGHT...SNOW AMOUNTS NEAR ONE INCH SNOW CAN BE EXPECTED OVER PORTIONS OF THE BLUES AND THE CENTRAL OREGON MOUNTAINS DUE TO LOW TEMPERATURES AND DEWPOINTS THIS MORNING.
