SOUTH TEXAS FORECAST DISCUSSION...UPDATED
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE CORPUS CHRISTI TX
955 AM CDT TUE SEP 9 2003

12Z CRP SOUNDING CAME IN WITH A SURPRISING INCREASE IN PRECIPITABLE
WATER...UP FROM 1.5 TO 2.15 IN JUST 12 HOURS. GFS SEEMS TO VERIFIED
THE HIGHER MOISTURE FIELDS BEST...WITH THE ETA LOOKING A LITTLE TOO
DRY. HOWEVER 12Z MESO-ETA AND LATEST RUC SHOWS THE EAST CWA AND
OFFSHORE WATERS RESIDING IN A TREMENDOUS AMOUNT OF UPPER DIVERGENCE
AND OMEGA AS A RESULT OF A COUPLED JET STRUCTURE. GFS SHOWS AN
ABSENCE OF THIS FORCING TODAY AND GENERATES CONVECTION RESEMBLING A
FAIRLY ACTIVE SEABREEZE. RADAR/SAT LOOPS SHOW SHRA/TSRA OFFSHORE
CONTINUING AND WILL CONTINUE THE CHANCE POPS INTO THIS AFTERNOON FOR
THE MARINE FORECAST DUE TO ENHANCED LIFTING...BUT ETA/RUC ARE
PROBABLY A LITTLE OVER DONE WITH THIS SCENARIO. OVER LAND...WILL
INCREASE POPS IN MOST LOCATIONS DUE TO HIGHER MOISTURE THAN
PREVIOUSLY ANTICIPATED INTERACTING WITH THE SEABREEZE THIS
AFTERNOON. AM WRESTLING WITH THE IDEA OF RAISING POPS TO 40 PERCENT
FOR THE COASTAL COUNTIES AND WILL MAKE FINAL CALL WITHIN THE NEXT
HOUR BASED ON HOW HEALTHY THE CU LOOKS OUTSIDE THE OFFICE.

.CRP...NONE.
