SOUTHEAST TEXAS FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HOUSTON/GALVESTON TX
215 PM CDT WED AUG 27 2003

SCT SHWRS AND TSTMS ARE DEVELOPING AREAWIDE THIS AFTERNOON AS
CONVECTIVE TEMPS HAVE BEEN REACHED. EXPECT SCT ACTIVITY TO CONTINUE
TO DEVELOP THROUGH THE EVENING HOURS ACROSS THE INLAND ZONES...WITH
ONLY ISOLATED DEVELOPMENT ACROSS THE COASTAL ZONES THIS EVENING
BEHIND THE SEA BREEZE BOUNDARY.

EXPECT TOMORROW AND FRIDAY TO BE SIMILAR TO TODAY. MODEL GUIDANCE IS
INDICATING THAT POPS WILL BE HIGHER IN THE SCT RANGE TOMORROW AS A
WEAK MID-LEVEL DISTURBANCE REMAINS OVER THE REGION AND COMBINES WITH
A VERY MOIST AND AN UNSTABLE ATMOSPHERE. PW VALUES WILL REMAIN
SLIGHTLY ABOVE 2 INCHES FOR THE FORESEEABLE FUTURE. DAYTIME HEATING
WILL BE THE MAIN DRIVER FOR THE INLAND ACTIVITY.

UNFORTUNATELY THE FORECAST BECOMES A LOT MORE UNCERTAIN LATE THIS
WEEKEND AND INTO NEXT WEEK AS THERE IS LITTLE CONSISTENCY BETWEEN
THE GLOBAL MODELS AND EVEN BETWEEN THEIR OWN SUCCESSIVE RUNS
CONCERNING THE POTENTIAL FOR TROPICAL CYCLONE DEVELOPMENT IN THE
NORTHERN CARIBBEAN...GULF...OR BAHAMAS. AT THIS POINT WILL NOT
CHANGE THE ONGOING FORECAST WHICH HAS A CHANCE OF SHOWERS AND
THUNDERSTORMS EACH DAY. WE WILL JUST HAVE TO WAIT A COUPLE OF DAYS
TO SEE IF THE MODELS CAN CONVERGE ON A GIVEN SOLN AND TO SEE IF WE
HAVE A PARTICULAR AREA THAT APPEARS TO BE GETTING BETTER
ORGANIZED.

I DO NOT THINK THAT A COLD FRONTAL PASSAGE IS VERY LIKELY ON SUN/MON
GIVEN THE UPPER LEVEL PATTERN. WE MAY BRIEFLY SEE A NORTH WIND BASED
ON THE ORIENTATION OF THE SFC PRESSURE PATTERN...BUT ANY BOUNDARY
WILL LIKELY BECOME DIFFUSE NORTH OF OUR AREA OR ACROSS THE EXTREME
NORTHERN PORTIONS OF THE AREA.
