Northeast wind gusted to 69 mph shortly after midnight September 18th. a combinations of strong low pressure in the Gulf of Alaska and high pressure over the interior produced the gusty winds. In Valdez a temporary tent was destroyed and a sign for a local restaurant was also destroyed by the gusty winds.
