.DISCUSSION...GALE FORCE WINDS AND COLD ADVECTION CONTINUE ACROSS
COASTAL AREAS OF SOUTHERN AND SOUTHWEST ALASKA AS WELL AS THE ALASKA
PENINSULA AND EASTERN ALEUTIANS.
500 MB TROUGH HAS NOW BEGUN TO FORM A CUT-OFF LOW JUST SOUTH OF
PRINCE WILLIAM SOUND AND WILL MOVE EASTWARD TO NEAR HAINES BY
THURSDAY AFTERNOON. THIS LOW IS GIVING SUPPORT TO THE SURFACE LOW
JUST EAST OF MIDDLETON ISLAND. WINDS IN THOMPSON PASS ARE CURRENTLY
AT WARNING LEVELS AND ARE EXPECTED TO STAY UP THROUGH THIS EVENING.
LARGE LOW APPROACHING THE GULF OF ANADYR IN EASTERN RUSSIA WILL MOVE
INTO THE CHUKCHI SEA THURSDAY MORNING. THE FRONT ASSOCIATED WITH THIS
LOW IS BRINGING GALE TO STORM FORCE WINDS OVER THE WESTERN ALEUTIANS
AND BERING SEA. THIS LOW WILL MOVE SOUTHEAST OVER THE EASTERN
ALEUTIANS...ALASKA PENINSULA...AND KODIAK ISLAND THROUGH THURSDAY
NIGHT.
TRIPLE POINT LOW IS FORECAST TO FORM NEAR THE BARREN ISLANDS THURSDAY
NIGHT AND THEN MOVE ACROSS THE NORTH GULF COAST FRIDAY.
MODELS ARE VERY SIMILAR EXCEPT WHEN IT COMES TO THE LOW THAT FORMS IN
THE BARRENS THURSDAY NIGHT. ETA SEEMS TO HAVE A BETTER SOLUTION THAN
THE GFS FOR THIS FEATURE. THE ETA BRINGS IT ALONG THE NORTH GULF
COAST WHICH IS CONSISTENT WITH THE TERRAIN...COLD ADVECTION...AND
COMMON WEATHER PATTERNS. THE GFS BRINGS IT INTO THE COPPER RIVER
BASIN AT THE SAME TIME WHICH DOES NOT LOOK AS REASONABLE. GO WITH THE
ETA SOLUTION AT 54 AND 60 HOURS FOR THIS LOW.

A strong low was over the Russian far east. The front associated with this low extended into the eastern Bering Sea to along the Bering Sea coast of Alaska. The resulting strong wind combined with snowfall produced blizzard conditions across the Kuskokwim Delta.
