Afternoon temperatures reached into the mid 80s to the lower 90s, for most communities. The warmest temperature was 93 degrees from Hamlin on Lincoln County. The 84 degrees at Beckley, the 85 degrees at Elkins, the 88 degrees at Huntington and Parkersburg, and the 89 degrees at Charleston were all records for the date. Some of the other maximum temperatures included 90 degrees at Glenville and 88 degrees at Clarksburg.
