THIS TROUGH WILL MOVE ACROSS UTAH TONIGHT THROUGH EARLY SATURDAY. HIGH PRESSURE ALOFT WILL RETURN TO THE REGION EARLY NEXT WEEK. .DISCUSSION...TAKING THE NEW 12Z ETA LITERALLY WOULD IMPLY THAT NEARLY ALL OF THE FORECAST AREA WILL BE DOMINATED BY SUBSIDENCE AND RELATIVELY STABLE AIRMASS THROUGH 00Z WITH SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS BECOMING WIDESPREAD AFTER THAT AND CONTINUING OVERNIGHT AND INTO SATURDAY MORNING. LATEST SATELLITE IMAGERY SUGGESTS ACTIVITY MAY START EARLIER IN SOUTHWEST UT AND GOES PW SHOWS MORE MOISTURE OVER THE NW AND SE PORTIONS OF UT THAN IN THE LATEST MODEL. JET STREAK OVER LAKE POWELL AREA ALSO APPEARS BETTER DEFINED IN IMAGERY THAN IN MODEL ISOTACH FIELDS. SO HAVE UPPED POPS IN SOUTHERN MOUNTAINS FOR TODAY/TONIGHT. CONVECTION MAY NOT PRODUCE MUCH MEASURABLE RAIN IN THE SOUTH WHERE LOW LEVELS ARE STILL FAIRLY DRY...BUT STRONG WINDS LIKELY WITH ANY STORMS.
