Severe thunderstorm winds hit Wall and areas south of town. A building under construction was destroyed and several fences in town were blown down. A resident 7 miles south of town measured a 91 mph wind gust with an unknown "wind gauge".

AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION FOR WESTERN SD AND NORTHEASTERN WY NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE RAPID CITY SD 750 MDT SAT SEP 7 2002 SOME DISORGANIZED CONVECTION HAS DEVELOPED OVER SOUTHWESTERN SOUTH DAKOTA AHEAD OF THE COLD FRONT THIS EVENING...AND APPEARS TO BE ON A TRACK THAT WILL JUST SKIRT THE SOUTHERN AND EASTERN BLACK HILLS. THE TWO PRIMARY CLUSTERS OF ACTIVITY ARE PRODUCING BRIEF MODERATE TO HEAVY RAIN...SMALL HAIL AND FREQUENT LIGHTNING WHICH IS MAKING THE FIRE MANAGERS A BIT JUMPY. IT IS A LITTLE EARLY TO MAKE A GOOD JUDGEMENT ON THE FRONTAL PASSAGE FORECAST...BUT IF ANYTHING CURRENT TIMING MIGHT BE A LITTLE FAST. WILL MAKE SOME MINOR WORDING CHANGES TO THE ZONES. .UNR...NONE.
