An NWS employee on her way home from work reported golf ball size hail associated with a thunderstorm just south of Shady Cove. Based on this report, a Severe Thunderstorm Warning was issued for Northern Jackson County at 1517 PST on 09/06/02 and expired at 1545 PST on 09/06/02.

SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ARE DEVELOPING THIS AFTERNOON IN RESPONSE
TO SURFACE HEATING AND DISTURBANCE MOVING ACROSS THE FORECAST AREA.
AS OF 2PM THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITIES WERE CONCENTRATES ALONG THE
SISKIYOU MTNS AND EAST SLOPE OF THE KALMIOPSIS WILDERNESS AREA.
EXPECT THESE SHOWERS AND T-STORMS TO CONTINUE THROUGH LATE EVENING
WITH SOME SPREADING EAST OF THE CASCADES. MAIN UPPER TROUGH SWINGS
ACROSS OREGON ON SATURDAY. WEST SIDE OF THE CASCADES GOES INTO
SUBSIDENCE EARLY WITH AREAS OF INSTABILITY CONFINED TO THE
CASCADES/SISKIYOUS AND EAST SIDE. AIR MASS STABILIZES ON SUNDAY AS
RIDGE BUILDS INTO OREGON. THIS WILL LEAD TO WARMING AND DRYING EXCEPT
FOR LOW CLOUDS NORTH OF CAPE BLANCO. COULD SEE OFFSHORE FLOW SETTING
UP OVER SW OREGON BUT IT IS NOT EXPECTED TO CREATE STRONG WINDS FOR
THE BISCUIT FIRE AREAS.

AFTER EVENING CONVECTION IS FINISHED...SKIES ARE EXPECTED TO CLEAR UP
AGAIN WITH TEMPERATURES DIPPING TO NEAR FREEZING EAST OF THE
CASCADES. WILL KEEP THE FROST WARNING GOING FOR ONE MORE NIGHT.

MEDIUM RANGE GUIDANCE CONTINUES TO BRING THE NEXT LOW PRESSURE FROM
THE GULF SOUTH TO OUR COASTAL WATERS ON TUESDAY WITH SURFACE FRONT
APPROACHING NORTHERN PART OF THE FORECAST AREA WEDNESDAY. WILL
INTRODUCE SOME SHOWERS FOR COOS AND DOUGLAS COUNTY ON WEDNESDAY THEN
ACROSS MOST OF OUR FORECAST AREA FROM THURSDAY ON.
