PREVIOUS AFD:

...SOGGY PATTERN TO HOLD...

THE FORECAST FOR THE HOLIDAY WEEKEND WILL BE DIFFICULT AS THE MODELS
HAVE BEEN STRUGGLING WITH PLACING THE AXIS OF HEAVIEST RAINS...AND
THE MOVEMENT OF THE SFC WSHFT/TROUGH. SIG DIFFERENCES DEVELOP
BETWEEN THE ETA/AVN FOR SUN-MON FURTHER COMPLICATING THE FORECAST.
WHAT LOOKED LIKE A DRIER LABOR DAY WEEKEND A COUPLE OF DAYS AGO NOW
LOOKS TO BE MUCH WETTER.

MODEL POPS FOR TODAY HAVE SOARED FROM PREVIOUS RUNS. THE COMBINATION
OF A SHEAR AXIS ALOFT...UPPER DIFL DUE TO PROXIMITY TO THE JET
ENTRANCE REGION...AND LOW LEVEL CONVERGENCE NEAR THE SFC WSHFT
SHOULD PRODUCE NUMEROUS SHOWERS AND TSTMS TODAY. LACK OF WIDESPREAD
COVERAGE ON AREA 88-DS CURRENTLY LED ME TO GO SLIGHTLY BELOW
GUIDANCE POPS. I FLIRTED WITH THE IDEA OF GOING WITH A FLOOD WATCH
AS PWS REMAIN AOA 2 BUT TOUGH TO DETERMINE WHERE AXIS OF HEAVIEST
RAINS WILL SET UP. WEDGE PATTERN INLAND LIKELY TO INHIBIT DEEP
INLAND PENETRATION OF SFC CONVERGENCE FTR. IN ADDITION THERE IS A
LARGE SWATH OF REAL ESTATE INLAND WHICH HAS NOT RECEIVED MUCH RAIN
DURING THIS WET WEEK. I LIKE ILM IDEA OF ISSUING AN SPS INSTEAD.

THE ETA IS CONSISTENT IN SWINGING AN AREA OF DISTURBED WEATHER FROM
NORTH OF THE BAHAMAS TOWARDS SC LATE SUNDAY AROUND THE WESTERN ATLC
UPPER HIGH. ALTHOUGH WEAKER THAN PREVIOUS RUNS THE ETA HAS BEEN
CONSISTENT. THE AVN 00Z RUN DID NOT HAVE THIS FTR. WILL LEAN TOWARDS
THE ETA SOLN ALTHOUGH I WISH CONFIDENCE WAS HIGHER. WILL USE MIDDLE
OF THE ROAD 50% POPS AND CALL PCPN SCT SO THE WHOLE WEEKEND DOES NOT
SOUND LIKE A TOTAL WASHOUT. WITH CLOUDS AND RAIN COOLED LOW
LEVELS...I GENERALLY FOLLOWED THE COOLER GUIDANCE. ANY SUCKER HOLES
IN THE CLOUD COVER THAT DEVELOP WILL ALLOW TEMPS TO LOCALLY REACH
MUCH HIGHER.

EFP: 00Z AVN DRIER FOR TUE/WED. WILL DECREASE POPS TO SLGHT CHANCE
BUT MAKE NO WHOLESALE CHANGES TO FORECAST.

MARINE: WILL LEAN HEAVILY ON ETA THIS RUN AS THIS JIVES ALSO PRETTY
WELL WITH THE NGM. DO NOT ANTICIPATE WINDS TO BE IN SCA CATEGORY BUT
E-SE SWELL WILL LIKELY REACH 6 FT TONIGHT AND REMAIN THROUGH MUCH
OF THE HOLIDAY WEEKEND ESPECIALLY N OF HATTERAS. WINDS SHOULD VEER
AROUND TO THE E LATE TODAY THEN SE SUN NIGHT AND S LABOR DAY. FCSTG
5 FT SEAS TODAY AND WILL HEADLINE SCSEC TODAY AND 6 FT TONIGHT
AND WILL HEADLINE SCA EXPECTED TONIGHT.

RIP CURRENT THREAT...INCREASED THREAT TODAY FOR ALL OUR BEACHES
DUE TO SWELL.

.MHX...FFA ENTIRE CWA.
