HIGH WINDS LATER THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING. 00Z MODELS ABOUT 6
HOURS SLOWER WITH ONSET OF FRONTAL PCPN STARTING AROUND 06Z IN
LASSEN COUNTY AND 09Z IN TAHOE AREA. SNOW LEVEL STARTING OUT AROUND
5500-6000 FEET LATE THIS EVENING IN NRN SIERRA THEN LOWERING
TO 4000-4500 FEET IN LASSEN COUNTY AND 5000-5500 FEET TAHOE
AREA BY SATURDAY MORNING. QPF AMOUNTS OF A FEW TENTHS EXPECTED
IN NRN SIERRA TRANSLATING TO AROUND 1-3 INCHES OF SNOW IN THE
UPPER ELEVATIONS BY SAT MRNG. WILL HOLD ONTO CLOUDS AND SHOWERS
SATURDAY MORNING ACROSS NRN CWA WITH PARTIAL CLEARING IN THE
AFTERNOON. BOOSTED NW WINDS MOST AREAS ON SATURDAY IN LINE
WITH MOS GUIDANCE.
IN THE EXTENDED...MODELS IN AGREEMENT THAT RIDGE WILL REMAIN OVER
THE AREA ON MONDAY FOR CONTINUED DRY AND MILD WEATHER. BUT AFTER
THAT THE MEDIUM RANGE GUIDANCE HAS EACH MODEL GOING ITS OWN WAY.
THERE DOES SEEM TO BE SOMEWHAT OF A UNDERLYING THEME FOR A RIDGE
POSITION OUT AROUND 130 WEST WITH A SHORT WAVE DROPPING DOWN THE
FRONT OF THE RIDGE AND INTO THE EASTERN GREAT BASIN LATE TUESDAY
INTO WEDNESDAY. WILL REMOVE PRECIP FROM TUESDAY FORECAST AND LEAVE
IT FOR WEDNESDAY BUT REMOVE ZONE 71 SINCE THE SYSTEM IS SLIDING
SOUTHEAST. TEMPS WILL FALL TO NEAR NORMAL ON WEDNESDAY OTHERWISE
