ACTIVE PATTERN ACROSS THE CONUS WITH UPPER LOW IN THE WEST/NORTHWEST
US WITH SEVERAL SHORTWAVES ROTATING AROUND SYSTEM AND MOVING ONTO
THE PLAINS AND FLATTENING RIDGE AXIS TO THE SOUTH.

EARLIER EVENING CONVECTION WHICH WAS ON FRINGE OF WESTERN CWA HAS
DIMINISHED.   WESTERN KS MCS NOW LOCATED IN OKLAHOMA.  ONGOING
CONVECTION IN THE HIGH PLAINS WILL BE MONITORED TODAY AS TSTM
ACTIVITY SHOULD DEVELOP AND ADVANCE EAST/SOUTHEAST ACROSS OUR CWA
DURING THE DAY.  UPPER DIVERGENCE INCREASES TODAY AS NOSE OF 70KT
H25 JET REACHES INTO SW KANSAS...AND DPVA ALSO INCREASES AS
SHORTWAVE TROF TRANSLATES ACROSS NEB/KS THIS AFTN.  WILL INCLUDE
SCATTERED POPS FOR ENTIRE CWA THROUGH TONIGHT.  TIMING OF WAVE
IMPLIES MAINLY AFTN AND OVERNIGHT TSTM CHCS...ESPECIALLY ACROSS
EASTERN COUNTIES BUT WILL NOT BE SPECIFIC IN TIMING STORMS IN THE
WEST.

TEMPS THIS AFTN WILL BE HELD DOWN FROM CLOUD COVER FROM LAST
EVENINGS CONVECTION...AND CONVECTION THIS AFTN.  TEMPS GENERALLY TO
RANGE FROM 80-85 NW/SE.

UPPER TROF DIGS FURTHER INTO THE WESTERN CONUS WEDNESDAY WITH
ADDITIONAL SHORTWAVE ENERGY MOVING ONTO THE PLAINS.  WILL MAINTAIN
TSTM CHCS THRU WED NIGHT...WITH LESSER CHCS IN LATER PERIODS WITH
RISING HGHTS ACROSS THE CENTRAL US IN RESPONSE TO RETROGRADING UPPER
TROF.  CONVECTION STILL EXPECTED TO INITIATE IN THE HIGH PLAINS BY
THE END OF THE WEEK...BUT EASTWARD AND SOUTHERN EXTENT OF TSTM
DEVELOPMENT STILL IN QUESTION AT THIS POINT.

SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ARE POSSIBLE THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT AS
AN UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE MOVES ACROSS NORTH CENTRAL KANSAS AND
SOUTH CENTRAL NEBRASKA.  SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED TO
DEVELOP BY AFTERNOON WEST OF HIGHWAY 2 81...AND THEN SPREAD FURTHER
SOUTH AND EAST DURING THE EVENING AND OVERNIGHT HOURS.

A FEW OF THE STORMS MAY PRODUCE HAIL TO ONE INCH IN DIAMETER...BUT
WEAK ATMOSPHERIC WIND FIELDS AND LIMITED INSTABILITY SHOULD KEEP
SEVERE WEATHER ACTIVITY MINIMAL...AND SPOTTERS SHOULD NOT BE
NECESSARY.
