A large area of low pressure over the southeastern states on the morning of the 6th moved northeastward along the coast to over Nova Scotia by the morning of the 7th. The storm brought 4 to 8 inches of snow to the western Maine mountains and foothills with lesser amounts south and east of the mountains. Along the coast, only 1 to 2 inches of snow fell.
