Low pressure moving east from the upper Ohio Valley and a second low that formed off the New England coast brought moderate to heavy snow to the area. The snow continued until mid-day on Feb. 1. In general, from 2 to 8 inches of snow fell with the greatest amounts occurring in the western mountains and in the southwestern part of the state.
