AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE JACKSONVILLE FL 800 PM EDT MON JUL 01 2002 PUBLIC...A MUCH QUIETER EVENING COMPARED TO LAST FOR THE JAX FORECAST AREA (FA) WITH ONLY A FEW SHOWERS MOVING INLAND IN THE ONSHORE FLOW. MOST OF TODAYS AFTERNOON CONVECTION OCCURRED OVER CENTRAL FL FROM INSTABILITY ASSOCIATED WITH THE STACKED SFC AND UPR LVL TROUGHS. CURRENTLY STRONG STORMS WERE FIRING ALONG THE WEST COAST WHERE THE SEABREEZE COLLISION OCCURRED. THE AFOREMENTIONED UPR LVL TROUGH EXTENDS ALONG THE ATLANTIC SEABOARD THROUGH THE FL PENINSULA WITH A SFC TROUGH EXTENDING SW FROM THE CAPE TO FMY. A SFC LOW APPEARS TO BE FORMING ACROSS S FL WHERE THE 12Z AVN RUN HAD DEPICTED. FOR TONIGHTS ZONE UPDATE...WILL WAIT UNTIL ISSUANCE TIME AFTER SUNSET TO SEE IF SHOWERS DISSIPATE FOR FINAL POP REMOVAL DECISION...BUT CURRENTLY DO NOT WANT TO REMOVE DUE TO CONTINUED ONSHORE FLOW OVER THE AREA AND LINGERING SB CONVECTION OVER OUR WESTERN ZONES. WILL LIKELY JUST LOWER TO SLIGHT CHANCE. WILL ALSO WORD INLAND WINDS AS BECOMING LIGHT (5 MPH COAST) AND MENTION PATCHY FOG. MARINE...NO HEADLINES.
