AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MIAMI 200 PM EDT FRI AUG 2 2002 AT THE PRESENT TIME THERE IS LITTLE REASON THE CHANGE THE FORECAST. THE TROUGH WHICH COVERS MOST OF THE PENINSULA WILL MOVE LITTLE THROUGH SUNDAY. IT SHOULD KEEP ENOUGH OF A WESTERLY COMPONENT TO THE FLOW TO KEEP THE CONVECTION OVER THE INTERIOR AND THE EAST COAST. THE MAXIMUM TEMPERATURES WILL ALSO BE WARMER IN THESE AREAS DUE TO LACK OF MUCH SEA BREEZE. THE TROPICAL WAVE OUT EAST OF THE CARIBBEAN WOULD BE OUR NEXT CHANCE FOR ANY CHANGE. IN THE MARINE THE GRADIENT SHOULD STAY WEAK ENOUGH THAT OTHER THAN THE THUNDERSTORMS THERE SHOULD BE NO BOATING PROBLEMS. IN THE EXTENDED THE AVIATION MODEL PULLS THE TROPICAL WAVE INTO THE DEEPENING UPPER TROUGH OVER THE ATLANTIC EAST OF THE BAHAMAS. IT EVEN DEVELOPS A WEAK SURFACE LOW/CIRCULATION. THIS MIGHT BE OVERDONE AND IT IS STILL TOO EARLY TO TIME THIS FEATURE. SO WILL BASICALLY CONTINUE THE PRESENT WEAK PRESSURE PATTERN AND GO WITH CLIMATE AFTERNOON AND EVENING PROBABILITIES. IF THE WAVE DOES CONTINUE WEST THEN WILL PROBABLY NEED TO MODIFY THE MONDAY AND TUESDAY FORECASTS. WE SHOULD STILL MAINTAIN HIGH ENOUGH HUMIDITIES THAT THERE WILL BE NO FIRE WEATHER PROBLEMS.
