Strong winds developed over the northern coast of St Lawrence Island. Wind gust to 52 knots (60 mph) were estimated to have occurred at Savoonga and other nearby locations.

Strong winds developed over the northern coast of St Lawrence Island. Wind gust to 52 knots (60 mph) were estimated to have occurred at Savoonga and other nearby locations. The strong winds occurred as a 970 millibar low moved to a position over the northern Bering Sea. This helped create strong easterly winds along the northern coast of the island within a strong pressure gradient around the low pressure center.
