SYNOPSIS...A STORM SYSTEM WILL SPREAD RAIN AND SNOW ACROSS UTAH
TODAY AND TONIGHT. THE STORM WILL MOVE EAST OF THE AREA THURSDAY
FOLLOWED BY A COLD AIRMASS.

DISCUSSION...SURFACE FRONT AND LOW CENTER BETWEEN BRYCE CANYON AND
MILFORD EXTENDING NORTHEAST ALONG THE CENTRAL UTAH MOUNTAINS THEN
INTO SOUTHERN WYOMING. 700 MB TROUGH AXIS ORIENTED SOUTHWEST TO
NORTHEAST FROM NEAR CALIENTE TO JUST WEST OF EVANSTON. SOUTHERLY WINDS
CONTINUE ACROSS THE WASATCH MOUNTAIN RIDGES AND STRONG NORTHERLY FLOW
AT THE LOWER ELEVATIONS TO THE WEST. A BAND OF HEAVIER SNOW
CONTINUES TO LIE OVER THE GREAT SALT LAKE WITHIN AND WEST OF THE 700
TROUGH AXIS. NEW ETA KEEPS THE 700 TROUGH STATIONARY UNTIL EARLY
AFTERNOON THEN MOVES IT EAST. EXPECT CURRENT BAND ON RADAR TO
DISSIPATE AS THAT HAPPENS WITH WASATCH MOUNTAINS SOUTH OF I-80 AND
SOUTHERN WASATCH FRONT FILLING IN AS FAVORABLE OROGRAPHIC LIFT
DEVELOPS DURING THE AFTERNOON. STRONG PVA PROVIDING LIFT OVER
SOUTHWEST UTAH WITH LOW LEVEL OROGRAPHIC CONVERGENCE FAVORING THE
WEST SLOPES AND I-15 CORRIDOR THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH THE EVENING.
WILL LET ALL ADVISORIES RIDE AND UPDATE FIRST TWO PERIODS TO MAKE
MINOR ADJUSTMENTS TO FIT ABOVE SCENARIO.
