VAD WIND PROFILE SHOWS MEAN WIND FROM THE NORTHEAST AT 15 KTS SO SHOWER AND THUNDERSTORMS THAT DEVELOP WILL PUSH TO THE SOUTHWEST. WATER VAPOR IMAGERY LOCATES CENTER OF UPPER LEVEL RIDGE OVER THE OZARKS. SHORT WAVE ENERGY ROTATING AROUND THIS RIDGE IS ENTERING THE FORECAST AREA AT THIS TIME. SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS THAT DEVELOP DURING THE AFTERNOON SHOULD END DURING THE EARLY EVENING HOURS WITH THE LOSS OF DAYTIME HEATING AND SHORT WAVE EXITS THE AREA. ON MONDAY...NORTHEAST FLOW AROUND THE RIDGE WILL BRING DRIER AND WARMER AIR TO THE MID LEVELS. THIS WILL HELP CAP THE ATMOSPHERE AND AN EAST TO NORTHEAST FLOW AT 700 MB WILL KEEP ANY SEABREEZE ACTIVITY TO THE IMMEDIATE COASTLINE AND OFFSHORE. THEREFORE...SHOULD SEE ONLY WIDELY SCATTERED OR ABOUT 20 PERCENT POP COVERAGE. ON TUESDAY...POPS WILL INCREASE TO SCATTERED CATEGORY (30-40 PERCENT) AS INVERTED TROF AND SHEAR AXIS OVER FLORIDA PENINSULA AND NORTHEAST GULF RETROGRADES WESTWARD AND NEARS THE FORECAST AREA.
