SATELLITE SHOWS UPPER LOW WEAKENING AND SHIFTING INLAND OVER WA AND
BC THIS AFTN AS FAST ONSHORE CONTINUES OVER OREGON. WINDS ALONG THE
COAST HAVE DECRESED BUT STRONG GUSTS REQUIRE AN ADVISORY OVER ZONE
031 INCLUDING SUMMER LAKE THRU THE EVE. SHOWER ACTIVITY HAS TRENDED
DOWN OVER SW OREGON AND N CA...MAINLY IN THE LEE OF HIGHER TERRAIN.

SUBTLE RIDGING ALOFT OCCURS TNGT AND A SIGNIFICANT DECREASE IN SHOWER
ACTIVITY WILL OCCUR ALLOWING THE SNOW ADVISORY OVER THE CRATER LAKE
ZONE TO FALL. THE NEXT SYSTEM ARRIVES LATE FRI AND LASTS THRU THE
WEEKEND. EARLY ON...THE SYSTEM WILL PRODUCE SOME SIGNIFICANT SOUTH TO
SOUTHEAST WINDS STARTING FRI NGT AND LASTING THRU EARLY SAT AS A
STRONG SURFACE LOW MOVES FROM N CA INTO E OREGON. INLAND AREAS APPEAR
MAINLY AT RISK FOR THE WIND INCLUDING CA COUNTIES...ROGUE VALLEY...
AND THE OREGON E-SIDE. WILL NEED TO WATCH MODEL TRENDS CLOSELY FOR
THE TRACK OF THIS SYSTEM. CURRENTLY THERE APPEARS GOOD AGREEMENT.

LARGE ETA/AVN DIFFERENCES ARE SEEN WITH THE PRECIP PATTERN FRI-SAT...
WITH THE ETA BEING THE DRIEST KEEPING THE CWA DRY FRI AFTN THRU EARLY
SAT...THEN GIVING THE BULK OF THE PRECIP TO NRN CAL SAT AFTN/NGT. AVN
MUCH BROADER WITH THE RAIN SHIELD THRU THE PD. PREFER A COMPROMISE
WHICH WOULD BRING LOCALLY HEAVY PRECIP THRU N CAL FRI NGT-SAT AND
RAINSHADOWING LOTS OF SW OREGON UNTIL WE GET INTO THE W/NW FOR BEHIND
THE STORM SAT NGT/SUN.

SNOW LEVELS IN ADVANCE OF THE STORM ARE SHOWN TO JUMP A BIT TO 6-7
KFT..THEN DROP TO AROUND 3 KFT BY MON AS AN UPPER LOW MOVES INLAND
OVER WA. WILL BE WARY OF THIS FORECAST INCREASE...ESPECIALLY NEAR MT
SHASTA CITY. RAIN CHANCES WILL REMAIN HIGH THRU MON ACROSS MOST OF
THE W-SIDE WHILE CHANCES DECREASE EAST. BEST CHANCE EAST LOOKS LIKE
FRI NGT IN OVERRUNNING PATTERN OUT AHEAD OF THE SFC LOW. WILL HAVE TO
ISSUE A WINTER STORM WATCH FOR THE HIGHER TERRAIN OF SISKIYOU COUNTY
FOR POSSIBLE HEAVY SNOW FRI NGT-SAT. MORE PREIP CHANCES IN MOIST
ONSHORE FLOW CONTINUE THROUGH THE EXTENDED. STAVISH
