North to northwest winds across Lake Erie caused lake effect snow showers to develop during the evening of the 5th. Most of the snow fell during the early morning hours of the 6th. The biggest accumulations occurred in the secondary snowbelt where 10 to 12 inches of snow fell across northern sections of Medina, Summit and Portage Counties. 6 to 7 inches of snow accumulated as far south as Richland and Ashland Counties and as far west as Huron County. 11 inches of snow also fell in Geauga county with 6 to 9 inches of snow elsewhere in the primary snowbelt.
