AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE CLEVELAND OH 311 PM EDT MON AUG 13 2001 COLD FRONT IS MOVING THROUGH THE EASTERN PORTIONS OF THE FORECAST AREA THIS AFTERNOON. SOME WEAK CONVECTION FIRED ALONG THE FRONT WHERE DEEPER MOISTURE EXISTED. FURTHER WEST...WEAK CONVECTIVE ACTIVITY DEVELOPED BUT IS HAVING A HARD TIME SUSTAINING LIFE. THIS ACTIVITY IS IN RESPONSE TO THE UPPER LEVEL SHORTWAVE MOVING SOUTHEAST INTO THE AREA. OTHER FACTOR IN PREVENTING SHOWERS FROM DEVELOPING MUCH FURTHER IS THE DRYNESS OF THE ATMOSPHERE IN THIS AREA. WILL CONTINUE TO MENTION A CHANCE OF A SHOWER OR THUNDERSTORM EARLY THIS EVENING EAST AS THE SHORTWAVE MOVES INTO THE AREA OF DEEPER MOISTURE. WILL KEEP IT DRY WESTERN THIRD. TEMPERATURES WILL BE COOLER THAN LAST NIGHT AS COOL CANADIAN HIGH PRESSURE SETTLES IN OVER THE AREA. LIGHT NORTHERLY FLOW WILL KEEP SOME COOL AIR ADVECTION ONGOING THROUGH THE NIGHT. THEN AS HIGH PRESSURE SYSTEM AND DRY AIR MASS SETTLES IN OVER THE AREA...SKIES WILL BE MOSTLY SUNNY THROUGH THE DAY. TEMPERATURES WILL RECOVER BACK INTO THE 70S FOR HIGHS ON TUESDAY. TUESDAY NIGHT AND WEDNESDAY LOOK TO BE THE SAME WITH SLIGHTLY WARMER TEMPERATURES IN STORE AS HIGH SHIFTS EAST OF THE AREA AND ALLOWS SOUTHWESTERLY FLOW TO DEVELOP. NEXT SHOT OF PRECIPITATION MAY COME AS EARLY AS LATE WEDNESDAY NIGHT INTO THURSDAY AS SURFACE COLD FRONT AND ASSOCIATED LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM APPROACHES THE AREA. WILL ONLY GO WITH A CHANCE SINCE MOISTURE APPEARS IT WILL BE LIMITED WITH THIS SYSTEM AS IT LIFTS NORTH. DEEP TROUGH TAKES A PLUNGE INTO THE AREA FOR THE LATTER HALF OF THE WEEKEND.
