Snow melt and ice jams caused flooding along Ponca and Bazile Creeks in Knox county. The Bazile Creek flooding briefly closed highway 12 east of Niobrara, while Ponca Creek near Verdel reached 14.4 feet at 100 pm on 3/15/01, flood stage at Verdel is 12 feet.
