AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE TWIN CITIES/CHANHASSEN MN 900 PM CDT WED JUN 20 2001 THE FORECAST HAS BEEN UPDATED TO FOR FOCUS OF THUNDERSTORMS IN THE NORTHERN PORTION OF THE FORECAST AREA. MID LEVEL THETA-E GRADIENT TIGHTENING AHEAD OF A SHORT WAVE TROUGH EXTENDING FROM ERN ONTARIO LOW SWWRD INTO SE ND. THE SHORT TERM MODELS CONTINUE TO FOCUS ACTIVITY ALONG AN EAST-WEST LINE IN THE NRN PORTION OF THE AREA OVERNIGHT. 850 MB MOISTURE CONVERGENCE ALONG WITH LIFT ASSOCIATED WITH JET STREAK OVER NW WI SHOULD KEEP SHOWERS GOING THROUGH THE NIGHT. FURTHER SOUTH SUPPORT IS WEAKER FOR CONVECTION...BUT SCATTERED SHOWERS HAVE BEEN LEFT BASED ON SOME SUPPORT AS WELL AS LOW LEVEL BOUNDARIES. .MSP...NONE. SCOTT
