Event Summary for 5/13/01-5/14/01:Strong to severe thunderstorms lifted slowly northeast from Missouri into portions of Eastern Iowa during the late evening and overnight hours. The storms produced a few reports of strong damaging winds and hail between penny and quarter size.

Event Summary for 5/13/01-5/14/01:Strong to severe thunderstorms lifted slowly northeast from Missouri into portions of Eastern Iowa during the late evening and overnight hours. The storms produced a few reports of strong damaging winds and hail between penny and quarter size. An intense thunderstorm over Farmington in Van Buren County produced half inch hail covering the ground for 5 minutes. During the overnight and early morning, thunderstorms continuously redeveloped over some locations which lead to torrential rainfall and reports of flooding. Farmington reported 5.6 inches of rainfall. Heavy rains of 1.5 to 3 inches fell in Davenport, which brought Duck Creek out of it's banks in many areas, mainly onto the bike path and other low areas. Some of the higher rainfall amounts from the Duck Creek gage sites included 2.61 inches at 110th Avenue, 2.52 inches near Walcott, 2.09 inches at Fairmont, and 1.50 inches at Silver Creek and County Shed.

WITH SUCH NONLINEAR PROCESSES DOMINATING...WARM FRONT IN THE PLAINS HASN/T MOVED MUCH AT ALL. RUC GOES AGAINST MODELS AND DOESN/T MOVE WARM FRONT MUCH AT ALL TONIGHT...COMPARED TO ETA/NGM/AVN. WEAK IMPULSES TO GENERATE ANOTHER MCS TONIGHT WITH IT COMING ACROSS OUR CWA. QG FORCING WEAK BUT LLJ POINTS RIGHT AT US WITH A RESPECTABLE THETA E RIDGE. ETA/NGM/AVN PUSH WARM FRONT THROUGH MONDAY BUT IF THE NEW MCS PUTS OUT A COLD POOL TOMORROW...TEMPERATURES WON/T BUDGE MUCH. THEREFORE WILL DELAY WARM FRONT A LITTLE WITH IT NOT PUSHING THROUGH ON MONDAY. POTENTIAL EXITS FOR LOCALLY HEAVY RAIN WITH MCS IF COLD POOL DEVELOPS AND POTENTIAL FOR SVR.
