AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE INDIANAPOLIS IN 300 AM EST WED NOV 28 2001 SIGNIFICANT RAIN EVENT ON THE WAY NEXT 36 HOURS BUT FORTUNATELY ONLY LIQUID PRECIPITATION EXPECTED IND CWA. UPPER TROF EVIDENT IN LATEST SWIS SATELLITE LOOP OVER THE SOUTHERN ROCKIES APPEARS TO BE BOTTOMING OUT. CIRCULATION CENTER WAY SOUTH AND CENTERED OVER THE SOUTHWEST CORNER OF NEW MEXICO/NORTHERN MEXICO. THIS FEATURE TAKES SOME TIME TO EJECT EAST AND NORTHEAST WITH INDIANA UNDER SOUTH TO SOUTHWEST FLOW ALOFT THROUGH THURSDAY. UPPER CENTER FINALLY APPROACHES THE LOWER AND MID MISSISSIPPI VALLEY BY EARLY FRIDAY MORNING. MODELS DO DIFFER ON LOCATION IN 48 HOURS WITH ETA OVER CENTRAL TENNESSEE AND AVN OVER NORTHERN KENTUCKY. OVERALL IMPACT WILL HOWEVER BE SIMILAR WITH RAIN CHANCES CONTINUING THROUGH THURSDAY NIGHT. COLD AIR TO REMAIN WEST OF THE STATE WITH NEAREST MIXED OR FROZEN PRECIPITATION TO BE OVER WESTERN ILLINOIS TODAY. MAX/MIN TEMPERATURE SPREADS NEXT 24 TO 36 HOURS WILL BE VERY SMALL CENTRAL AND NORTHERN PARTS OF THE CWA AND IN THE 5 DEGREE RANGE. SPREADS ACROSS THE SOUTH AND SOUTHEAST AREAS WILL BE A BIT LARGER WITH WARMER TEMPERATURES NEXT 2 DAYS AND SPREADS FROM 8 TO 10 DEGREES. RAINFALL POTENTIALS THROUGH 48 HOURS ARE GENERALLY 1 TO 2 INCHES CENTRAL AREAS WITH HEAVIER AMOUNTS SOUTH AND ESPECIALLY SOUTHEAST.
