NARRATIVE SYNOPTIC DISCUSSION FOR AMERICAN SAMOA AND THE INDEPENDENT STATE OF SAMOA ...TONIGHT THROUGH WEDNESDAY... OUR SATELLITE LOOPS SHOW ISOLATED CLOUDS MOVING OVER THE SAMOA ISLANDS FROM THE EAST NORTHEAST...MOSTLY CUMULUS WITH VERY ISOLATED TOWERING CUMULUS. IN THE PAST 3 HOURS CLOUDS HAVE FORMED OVER THE SLOPES OF CENTRAL AND SOUTHWEST UPOLU AND SAVAII. THESE CLOUDS SHOULD CLEAR AFTER SUNSET. LOW LEVEL EASTNORTHEASTERLY FLOW HAS TEMPORARILY STRENGTHENED OVER SAMOA BUT THE AVN MODELS SHOW THE FLOW WEAKENING AGAIN TOMORROW SO DAYTIME SEA BREEZES AND NIGHTTIME LAND BREEZES MAY DEVELOP. THE ATMOSPHERE MAY ALSO BECOME MORE UNSTABLE TOMORROW SO LOCALLY HEAVY AFTERNOON SHOWERS ARE POSSIBLE. THE MODELS SHOW MORE STABLE CONDITIONS AND STRONGER EAST NORTHEAST FLOW AGAIN WEDNESDAY SO WEATHER SHOULD BE MOSTLY FAIR WITH A FEW WINDWARD SHOWERS. NO SIGNIFICANT SWELL IS EXPECTED. ...OUTLOOK FOR THURSDAY THROUGH SATURDAY... WINDS WILL BECOME LIGHT AGAIN ON THURSDAY WITH LAND AND SEA BREEZES DEVELOPING AGAIN. THE MRF SHOWS UNSETTLED CONDITIONS FRIDAY AND SATURDAY WITH A LOW DEVELOPING SOUTHEAST OF SAMOA TOMORROW AND MOVING SOUTHWESTWARD TO A POINT 500 NAUTICAL MILES SOUTH OF THE SAMOA ISLANDS BY FRIDAY. THAT PATTERN COULD PRODUCE HEAVY RAIN ON SATURDAY BUT THE MRF TENDS TO OVERDEVELOP LOWS SO IT IS TOO EARLY TO PLACE MUCH FAITH IN THE MRF FORECAST. NARRATIVE DISCUSSION FOR TUVALU ...TONIGHT THROUGH THURSDAY...TUVALU TIME OUR SATELLITE PICTURES SHOW ISOLATED SHOWERS OVER NORTHERN TUVALU AND FAIR WEATHER ACROSS CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN TUVALU...FROM NUI ATOLL SOUTHWARD. THE SHOWERS WILL SHIFT SLOWLY SOUTHWARD OVER THE NEXT TWO DAYS AND BY THURSDAY WEATHER WILL BE FAIR OVER THE NORTHERN ATOLLS WITH ISOLATED SHOWERS OVER SOUTHERN TUVALU. WINDS WILL REMAIN FROM THE EAST NORTHEAST AT 10 TO 20 KNOTS.
