SHORTWAVES. AT THE SURFACE SOUTHWEST FLOW ALSO CONTINUES AROUND
WESTERN EDGE OF ATLANTIC RIDGE. COLD FRONT APPROACHES NORTH GEORGIA
SATURDAY PUSHING INTO CENTRAL GEORGIA BY SUNDAY BEFORE STALLING AND
DISSIPATING. WILL KEEP SCATTERED POPS THROUGH THIS FORECAST...BUT

The Covington News reported that a large, 60 to 70 foot, and very old oak tree, was completely shattered and destroyed by lightning. The tree was located at a knoll on a commercial cattle farm on Moores Road in southern Newton county. While a similar incident in April killed at $1,500 bull, no injuries to personnel or livestock were reported with this incident.
