Flash Flood in Delaware, June 16 to 17, 2001
Showers and thunderstorms associated with the remnants of Tropical Storm Allison dropped heavy rain across New Castle County from the mid afternoon through the early evening of the 16th. The heavy rain caused flooding on some of the smaller steams in the county as well as some urban and poor drainage flooding.

Showers and thunderstorms associated with the remnants of Tropical Storm Allison dropped heavy rain across New Castle County from the mid afternoon through the early evening of the 16th. The heavy rain caused flooding on some of the smaller steams in the county as well as some urban and poor drainage flooding. As the low moved east of the New Jersey coast during the morning of the 17th, heavy rain fell again for a couple of hours near dawn. While heavy rain also fell across the southern half of the state, no serious stream flooding was reported. Storm totals averaged between 2 and 4 inches and included 4.20 inches in Greenwood (Sussex County), 3.94 inches at the Dover AFB (Kent County), 3.60 inches in Milford (Kent County), 3.58 inches at the New Castle County Airport, 3.20 inches in Bridgeville (Sussex County), 2.94 inches in Wilmington (New Castle County), 2.30 inches in Newark (New Castle County) and 2.14 inches at the Wilmington Porter Reservoir (New Castle County).
