AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE LITTLE ROCK AR 330 AM CDT SAT JUN 30 2001 PESKY UPPER LOW WILL NOT MOVE MUCH TODAY OVER NORTHERN AR...BUT WILL BEGIN TO SINK SOUTH TONIGHT AND SUNDAY. MODELS AGREE PRETTY WELL ON THIS H50 SCENARIO. THIS WILL TAKE MUCH OF THE DEEPER MOISTURE SOUTH WITH IT...SO RAIN CHANCES WILL BE DECREASING AS TIME GOES ON FROM NORTH TO SOUTH. WILL GO WITH SCATTERED TO LIKELY POPS TODAY OVER CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN ZONES. PW VALUES WAY UP THERE...SO COULD BE LOCALLY HEAVY RAIN IN THE STRONGER CELLS. DO NOT THINK THE NORTH WILL SEE MUCH ACTIVITY...BUT WILL NOT REMOVE POPS COMPLETELY...WILL LIKELY GO WITH 20-30%. MAIN THREAT OF SHOWERS/THUNDERSTORMS TONIGHT WILL BE OVER SOUTHERN ZONES AS UPPER LOW SINKS IN THAT DIRECTION. WILL REMOVE POPS COMPLETELY OVER THE NORTH. WITH SKIES BECOMING PARTLY CLOUDY...LIGHT WINDS AND RESIDUAL LOW LEVEL MOISTURE LEFT OVER...WILL INTRODUCE AREAS OF FOG LATE MANY AREAS. SUNDAY LOOKS LESS ACTIVE WITH SCATTERED RAIN CHANCES LIMITED TO SOUTHERN ZONES. WILL HALF STEP CENTRAL AND NORTH BACK TO ABOUT 20 PERCENT. STATUS QUO FORECAST FOR EARLY NEXT WEEK...THOUGH UPPER HIGH DOES ATTEMPT xTO REESTABLISH ITSELF BY MID WEEK. WILL ALLOW FOR SCATTERED AFTERNOON CONVECTION...MAINLY SOUTHEAST HALF MONDAY AND TUESDAY.
