Moderate low pressure over the eastern Bering Sea and a building ridge of high pressure in the Gulf of Alaska resulted in a strong pressure gradient in the south-central region of Alaska. The wind was very localized, confined to the Upper Anchorage Hillside-. Peak gusts reached 71 mph at Glen Alps between 2 pm and 6 pm.
