Strengthening high pressure over southwest Alaska, coupled with a deepening low near Middleton Island, caused gusty northwest winds across Kodiak Island and lower Cook Inlet. Strongest reported winds were just south of Kodiak Island at Sitkinak. Peak winds of 60 + mph began there at 7 pm Tuesday, peaking at 67 mph at 3 am Wednesday. The last 60 + mph observation was at 4 am Wednesday.
