Mostly sunny skies and southerly winds brought to the region by an area of high pressure pushed temperatures well above normal from the 6th through the 9th. Afternoon temperatures reached into the mid 80s to lower 90s, compared to a normal high in the mid 70s. On the 6th, heat indices ranged from the mid 80s to the lower 90s. On the 7th, heat indices ranged from 88 to 99 degrees. On the 8th, heat index values reached the upper 80s to upper 90s, and on the 9th, head indices ranged from 92 to 100 degrees.
