The storm track remained mostly to the north and south of far western Virginia, resulting in November precipitation totals of only 1 to 2 inches. Some preliminary totals included Grundy with 1.1 inches, Hurley 1.5 inches, Clintwood 1.6 inches, and the Breaks Interstate Park 1.8 inches. The 3 month autumn period from September through November was the driest since records began in 1963 for Clintwood. The seasonal precipitation total was only 3.5 inches for that Dickenson County community.
